This house and shop built in the 1920’s has been home to many businesses and many different folk over the years.
Attending my friend Helen’s birthday party there in the late 60s is a happy memory.

I have never forgotten the homemade knitted beanie gift, a great effort from Mum using a pattern from her favourite English women’s magazine.

I often wonder if Helen’s mum ever used the beanie as a teapot cover.
At that time, and for many years after, the shop was the Bunyip Chemist, with names such as Adderley, Bryant, and the more recent familiar name of Solanki.
The chemist was not only a medicine shop. You could also have your photo film roll, in its black container, sent off for development.

You could buy nail polish, hair spray, hair rollers, perfume, and gifts for people as well.
The chemist shop went on to be many other things, and now the building is once again being refurbished, with a new business soon to begin.
Sharing your own memories of the chemist shop is most welcome.
