It was Saturday, and after a busy week, Henry was busy in the bakery; today was his friend Vivienne's birthday. Henry wanted to make a delicious cake. Early in the morning, he baked the cake and put it outside to cool. He knew Vivienne loved pearls, so he set about getting his decorations ready for the cake. After enjoying a break with a cup of tea, Henry went to the window and looked for his cake; it was nowhere to be seen. Where on earth could it be? He looked up and down, under the table, in the cupboard, and everywhere, but he was puzzled. Henry decided to ring the teddy bear police, but they couldn’t help; a thing had to be missing for 12 hours before the police could file a report. Henry was worried. When he went outside, he met Xena the magpie, who looked a little sheepish. 'Oh, Xena…' said Henry, 'have you seen my cake?' Xena tilted her head. She just flew up to the big gum tree and laughed. 'Are you looking for this?' she asked, nodding towards something pink. 'Oh no, that’s Vivienne’s cake,' Henry said. 'Please give it back.' Xena said only if you make me a pink cake I will. Henry knew he had a little bit of cake mix left, so he agreed to make Xena a tiny little cake. That made Xena happy, and Henry got the cake back and decorated it with lovely pearls, just like Vivienne would love. Later that day, Xena and Henry enjoyed a tiny pink cake; Xena was a teeny bit sorry, but the pink cake was delicious, so she said it was worth it. Henry wasn’t so sure, but he was happy when Vivienne said she loved her cake later that day. Happy Birthday Vivienne 🎂
