Bunyip Primary School, School Sports Day

Henry Bunyip and his friends were invited by Miss Jenny, the principal of School 2229, to attend the annual sports day. This day coincided with the opening of the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England. Henry thought it would be great fun.The day arrived, and the gang gathered at the school. Miss Jenny and her team had set up the sports equipment they would need; it was a sunny day, and luckily, Henry remembered to bring sunscreen. The gang joined in, having a blast running, jumping, leaping, climbing, and catching. Fi the green tree frog led the cheer squad, and everyone cheered loudly whenever someone did well. When the lunch bell rang, they were glad to take a break, enjoying Vegemite sandwiches and a cold glass of milk. Miss Jenny handed out numerous awards. Mittens received a silver medal in the wool toss event. Gee won a gold medal for her efforts in the bicycle race. Henry also took part in that race, but his bicycle had a flat tyre. Ollie received an encouragement award for his surfing skills. Bella won a bronze medal in her dance-off competition, and Xena the magpie took gold in the fastest-flying race. Charlie the goat was skilled at throwing tin cans; he ended up with a spaghetti tin on his horn. He especially enjoyed it when a bit of spaghetti fell onto his nose, which he licked up, wondering where he could find more. Felix also received a medal for finishing third in the 100-meter race. Annie and Hazel finished slightly ahead; the race was incredibly close. What a fun day! Everyone was having a fantastic time. Miss Jenny was very pleased. Next year, School 2229 will host an even better sports day.Henry the Bunyip liked that idea. He and the gang planned to practice, but first, they would enjoy a nice sticky bun and a cup of tea.
