Chapter 3
Rose Farm
Bella the pig loved living on the farm with Charlie the goat. There was always a lot of mischievous fun and laughter going on. Charlie was constantly discovering entertaining things to do. One day, he found an old tin can and managed to stick it firmly on one of his horns. Felix, Jenny, and Queenie lived on the farm. Jenny, who loved flowers, was especially busy around Christmas and Mother’s Day. Once she gave Annie a huge bunch of daffodils, Ris and Rocky lived at the hen house. Rocky enjoyed playing video games. Ollie would often drop by to play Cyril the Dragon with him. Ris stayed busy; she liked using her computer to create clip art pictures and advertising posters for the local printing company. Angus and Annie had been living at the farm for a long time. They handled all the baking and kept the kitchen running like clockwork. Every morning at 7 am, they would ring the bell to let everyone know that breakfast was ready, serving toast from Henry’s bakery and eggs from the chook house. Sometimes they would treat everyone to Henry’s favourite sticky buns; they were delicious. Life at Rose Farm was never dull. Every day was busy; the farm was home to so many wonderful characters: Felix the Shetland pony loved spending his afternoons under the apple tree. He would sit for hours, gazing up at the highest branches where the juiciest apples hung just out of reach. One day, Felix had an idea. He asked Xena the magpie to knock down the yummiest-looking apple. With a swift swoop, Xena plucked the apple from the tree, took off with it, and Felix called after her, "Bring it back and I will let you have half." Xena laughed and said, "I will give you a quarter." That day Félix agreed, the quarter was yummy and there were plenty more apples. Queenie the librarian was busy at work, sorting books in the cozy little library. there were Henry's new books to unpack. The library had nice comfy chairs,Living at Rose Farm was enjoyable. There was always something to do, whether it was looking after the farm, playing uno, or simply having fun. And no matter how busy everyone was, there was always time for a sticky bun and a nice cup of tea.
