This birthday was very special. Guppy never felt that he was a certain age; he was young at heart, still had a spring in his step, but this birthday meant he could join a certain club. Yep, you guessed it—the pension club.Guppy didn’t mind if he was able to go fishing. He was happiest when fishing. He loved heading out to sea in his little boat. His second favourite thing was looking after his magnificent vegetable garden. He grew the Three Sisters seeds—corn, pumpkin, and beans. These three veggies are mates because they help each other grow. Guppy knew that the corn stalks provided support for the climbing beans, and the prickly leaves of the pumpkins shaded the ground, preventing weeds. When it rained, the leaves trapped moisture, and the beans returned nitrogen to the soil, which in turn helped the corn and pumpkins later on. Guppy liked these veggies and had it all worked out, but today, let’s hope Guppy saves some time to enjoy his big chocolate cake.
