Daffy, Queenie, and Gee's adventure
In the little town of Bunyip, three best friends had an excellent idea: Gee the Goose, Daffy the Dog, and Queenie the Cow decided it was the perfect day for a picnic! Each had a bicycle; Gee had a shiny blue bike with a basket tied with a blue ribbon, and Daffy had a yellow bike covered with bright daffodil stickers. Queenie’s bike was red, very fast, and the bell rang ding-ding every time she rode over a bump. They pedalled happily past the bakery, where Henry was waiting with three packed lunches. He wished he could join them, but he was very busy making sticky buns. They continued past the library, where Queenie sometimes worked sorting books. They rode past the butcher shop, Gees friends the three butchers waved as they went by, Soon, they reached a sunny spot under a big gum tree by the creek. They spread a bright picnic blanket and shared sandwiches, sticky buns, and a thermos of tea. Daffy chased butterflies. Gee told the knock-knock jokes, the one about Mr Guppy Knock, knock! Who’s there? Lettuce. Lettuce who?Lettuce in, Mr. Guppy— we want to see your garden grow! Queenie read a storybook about the map she once found. As the sun set behind the hills, they packed their belongings, hopped back onto their bicycles, and rode home with happy hearts, promising to have another picnic very soon. It was, without a doubt, the best picnic they had experienced in a long time, but next time they must invite Henry.
Happy Tuesday
